We at Xiwai not only teach and expect high academic achievements, we also teach the value of being good citizens. Teaching our students compassion and empathy towards our fellow human beings, animals and those less fortunate, helps to create a well rounded student who understands the concepts of contributing to society, giving their valuable time for good causes, and helping when the opportunity arises.

在西外，我们不仅注重学习和学术上的成就，也教导学生明白做好一个公民的价值意义。我们教导学生对人类、动物和不幸的人或事物，要有同情心和同理心。这样能帮助一个全面发展，让他们明白这些想法：为社会做贡献、利用宝贵的时间做有意义的事情、当机会来临时要去帮助。

Yes, we choose the word ‘opportunity’ as that is exactly what it is, an ‘opportunity’ to do something good. We teach the value of not only doing good things to help others, but doing so without expecting credit, any honor or attention. Doing them quietly without any expectation of return. This is the true meaning of giving. The only reward is knowing you have done a little something towards making the world a better place. To truly shine is to shine within.

是的，我们选择“机会”这个词，因为这正是它的含义，一个做好事的机会。我们教导的价值不仅仅是做好事帮助别人，而是这样做，不期待荣誉，任何荣誉或关注。静静地做着，不期待任何回报。这才是布施的真谛。唯一的回报是知道你为让世界变得更好做了一点事。真正的闪耀是内在的闪耀。

Often something we consider a small gesture or of little value can change the life of someone in need. Just the idea that someone, a stranger, reached out to help them can inspire hope. With hope, all things can be achieved. We are giving more then material items, we are giving hope more than anything.

通常我们认为一个小小的举动或没有什么价值的东西可以改变有需要的人的生活。仅仅是一个陌生人伸出援手的想法就能激发希望。有了希望，一切都可以实现。我们给予的比物质更多，我们给的希望比任何东西都多。

Our Xiwai International school students, Jalander Wang and Angelia Lin and their team, the Halcyon Team, have created a new charity drive in association with Mayi  by collecting clothing, books, household goods, shoes, sneakers and other items to be donated. We have collected many items thanks to the generosity of many Xiwai families.

我们西外国际部的学生 Jalander Wang 和 Angelia Lin 和他们的团队—— Halcyon Team ，通过收集衣物、书籍、家居用品、鞋子、运动鞋和其他捐赠物品，与 Mayi 一起创建了一个新的慈善活动。由于许多西外家庭的慷慨捐赠，我们收集了许多物品。

The Xiwai Creative Arts Group also helped to organise the event and do their part for our school. We all believe in helping whenever we can. We ‘make’ the opportunities happen!

西外创意艺术团也协助组织了此次活动，为我校做出了贡献。我们都相信只要有可能就应该帮助别人。我们让“机会”变成了现实！

Here at Xiwai International school we are doing our part to make the world a better place by educating our students on their social responsibilities as well as by showing them by taking real action towards these goals. They learn by doing.
