      西外双语初中部成立于2010年，经过全体中外教育工作者多年坚持不懈的努力奋斗，已发展成为一个规模适中、目标明确、中西融合、师资一流的初中学部。学部现有20个教学班，其中8个荣誉班，12个平行班。师资方面，拥有一支以中青年为主的中外教团队，共计60余人，全部拥有本科及以上学历，近一半的老师具有海外留学、工作、游学经历。外教来自英国、美国、澳大利亚等国，全部具有专业教师资质。师资队伍中既有高级教师，又有年富力强的中年骨干，同时更有一批朝气蓬勃、积极进取、充满活力的年轻老师。在师资和学生管理方面，学部中外学部主任、教导共治共管。在学生培养过程中，学部实施每个班级中外双班主任制以及中外导师制，深度参与教学与学生发展全过程。一流的师资队伍和中外联合管理有力地保障了学部的教学质量和可持续发展。

    双语初中部的培养总目标是通过各类课程的设置为全体学生提供德、智、体、美、劳共生共存、相互融合的学习体验与实践经历，以“关注学生的全面发展”为本，以激发学生的学习兴趣、关注学生独立思考和批判思维为出发点，培养身心健康、全面发展、热爱祖国的国际精英人才。

    根据《上海市普通中小学课程方案》以及学生培养目标，学部设置了三位一体的中西融合课程体系，一是依托义务教育体制和英国剑桥课程体系的基础型课程；二是关注学生全面发展的丰富多元的拓展型课程；三是注重培养学生独立思考和批判思维的研究型课程。此外，中外教团队共同合作开展英语文化节、篮球赛、足球赛、才艺秀等各种文化、体育、艺术类活动。在教学过程中，外教不仅教英语，也教科学、戏剧、人文综合、音、体、美和各类拓展、研究性课程。

    目前，注重学生英文能力培养的英文辩论课、英文公共演讲等，已成为学部极具特色的课程，特别是英文辩论项目，已逐渐在华东地区崭露头角，屡获佳绩。而我们一直坚持的行走探究课，更是在培养学生爱国精神、跨学科能力、批判性思维、团队合作等方面发挥了重要作用，甚至在一些媒体中都有正面报道。这些课程的设置，加上以学生为主体的智慧教学方式，为培养学生拥有传统的美德、强健的体魄、扎实的基础、独立的思考、批判的思维，从而为将来成为国际精英人才打下了坚实的基础。

    双语初中部学生毕业后的去向大致分为两类，一类是绝大多数优秀的毕业生直接升入西外高中国际部继续就读，经过三年的国际课程学习，被英国、美国、加拿大等海外高等院校录取，录取率达100%，其中拿到世界Top50院校通知书的比例高达50%以上。另一类是直接升入海外高中和上海市重点国际高中。

Xiwai Bilingual Middle School

       Founded in 2010, with the unremitting efforts of all Chinese and foreign educators, Xiwai Bilingual Middle School has developed into a middle school with sound scale, clear training objectives, integration of eastern and western courses and first-class teaching staff. Our school now has 20 classes, including 8 honor classes and 12 regular classes. At the same time, we have a team of over 60 teachers who are mainly young and middle-aged and who are integrated with Chinese and foreign education. All of them have bachelor's degree or above, and nearly half of them have overseas study, work and study tour experience. Foreign teachers from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, etc., all have professional teacher qualifications. There are not only senior teachers, middle-aged backbone, but also a large number of vigorous and enterprising young teachers, full of vitality. In terms of faculty and student management, we have both Chinese principal foreign principal work closely together with teaching directors to participate in all activities concerning students’ learning and development. We also have both Chinese and foreign homeroom teachers as well as tutors to help students. Excellent faculty and Chinese and foreign joint management ensure the department's high-quality teaching and sustainable development.

       The cultivation of bilingual middle school overall goal is to offer study and practice experience for students to build their morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, to focus on the all-round development of students, to stimulate students' interest in learning, pay attention to students' independent thinking and critical thinking as a starting point, so as to cultivate the international elite talents, who gain harmonious all-round development of body and mind and love our country.

      According to the curriculum plan for ordinary primary and secondary schools in Shanghai and the students' training objectives, Xiwai Bilingual School has set up a three-in-one curriculum system integrating Chinese and western education. The first centers around both the domestic compulsory curriculum and English Cambridge curriculum; The second is extensive curriculum aiming at the students' comprehensive development of the rich and diversified development of the curriculum; The third is the research-based curriculum which focuses on cultivating students' independent thinking and critical thinking. In addition, Chinese and foreign teaching teams cooperate to carry out various cultural, sports and artistic activities such as English cultural festival, basketball match, football match, talent show and so on. In actual teaching, foreign teachers teach not only English,but also science, drama, humanities, music, P.E., art and all kinds of extensive and research-based courses.

     At present, the English debate class and English public speech, which focus on the cultivation of students' English ability, have become very characteristic courses of the department. The fieldtrip course we have been adhering to has played an important role in cultivating students' patriotism, interdisciplinary ability, critical thinking, teamwork and other aspects, which has even been positively reported in some media. The setting of these courses, together with the student-centered intelligent teaching, has laid a solid foundation for students to have traditional virtues, strong body, solid foundation, independent thinking and critical thinking, thus laying a solid foundation for them to become international elite talents in the future.

      Bilingual middle school students after graduation can be roughly divided into two kinds, one kind is the vast majority of the outstanding graduates directly admitted to Xiwai International High school, who, after three years of the study, are admitted overseas universities in Britain, the United States, Canada and other countries, with acceptance rate of 100%, over 50% of them are among TOP 50 and above. The other kind is those who go directly the overseas high school and Shanghai key international high schools.
