西外開學第一課 總校長魔力開啟書香寶庫（圖）

人世間最神奇的魔法來自哪裏？

今年的開學季，上海西外外國語學校的開學典禮別具一格，“Reading Campus Taking Pride in Ourselves”是本學期的主題，作為一所幼兒園、小學、初中和高中齊全的國際化全日製寄宿學校，西外以培養“獨立之人格、自由之思想”的具有中西融合視野的國際公民為辦學目標，圍繞培養學生批判力、創造力和創新力等核心素養研發課程。在這樣的課程體係浸潤下，閱讀成了西外人日複一日的常態，成為這所年輕的學校保持生機和續航力的能量來源，總校長林敏博士在開學典禮上的“魔法現身”也讓西外的師生和家長們在聆聽與互動中“開悟”——

原來人世間最神奇的魔法是讀書。

以下是林校長即興演講文字實錄：

So many of your spirits are here. I really feel excited. I know I stand in a natural kingdom of wisdom. I can see so many of you standing in front of me. I have seen so many beautiful fancies. I have seen so many beautiful, beautiful human beings.

西外這裏孕育著很多的靈魂。我真的感覺很激動。我知道自己身在天然的智慧王國。我可以看到你們都站在我麵前，充滿了美妙的奇思幻想。我已經看到很多如此美麗的生命。

Thank heaven, you sent me here. I really wish I could be with you all the time.

I don’t want to be the principal of that magic school in that kingdom of wisdom. I really want to be with you, with all of you, your wonderful teachers from America, Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and China.

謝謝上蒼把我送到這裏。我真的希望我可以一直陪伴著你們。我不想要成為那所充滿智慧的魔法學校的校長。我真的想要和你們在一起，和你們所有的人，包括來自美國、英國、澳大利亞、加拿大、新西蘭和中國的非常棒的老師。

All the students here: I want to be with you.

所有在場的學生，我想要伴隨你們一起成長。

Try to fulfill our dreams.

請試著實現我們的夢想。

I have a dream:

I want to live with you

to share knowledge with you

to strive for the best

to become a great, great individual

for us to help each other

to support each other

我想要自己和你們一起生活，分享知識，來努力做到最好，來成為偉大的人，來相互幫助，來支持對方。

I hope that in the wonderful castle

behind me, there are some interesting things.

我希望在這個奇妙的城堡後麵，會有一些有趣的東西在那裏。

我有一個魔法棒，讓我們來看看城堡後麵有什麼東西？

WOW!!! Oh...books!

哇！很多書！

The very important source of knowledge for us to become great human beings and to be able to conquer the world, to land on the moon, to fly into space, to be the masters of our own destiny.

這正是非常重要的知識的來源！他們能讓我們成為偉大的人，能夠征服這個世界，能夠登上月球，能夠飛向太空，能夠讓我們成為自己命運的主宰。

Come on,

Can anyone come here or send a representative here? I will give you these books.

來吧，有人能上來或者派個代表過來嗎？我可以給你們這些書。

From now on, all the teachers will pass these books around the campus.

Let me share all this wisdom and knowledge.

從現在開始，所有的老師會將這些書在校園裏傳承下去。

這樣的開學典禮是不是很有“魔性”？西外新學期的校園內，也修葺和增設了文字窗、竹欣閣、柏拉圖之角、蘇菲的世界、奕盤、音樂港、雲教室、約翰的小屋、一米陽光、觀星台、大觀塗鴉室、百老彙等極詩意的文化空間，在這樣的空間裏學習工作，神秘的“書籃”，俯仰坐立之間的“書架”，流動的“書車”，溢滿陽光和咖啡香的“書亭”，這一切讓西外的自然與文化空間交相融和，成為了一所厚重亦不失靈動的“書舍”，而閱讀，也漸漸回歸了教育的本義，成為一種樸素的、有魔力的，卻很真實的幸福。
